Free!
That’s the key word when you aren’t working for the money. Allistair and I have a friend here in the city that is on a sabbatical so we are always looking for fun things to do on the cheap. I have become the team’s event planner and we have been busy the last couple of weeks exploring museums, gardens, and science events for free or for next to nothing.

Coit tower with a stunning view from the top. Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay Bridge from a 360 degree top-of-the-tower cove. The number of stairs you have to climb to get here on foot will get that blood going.

Do you like our family portraits? ;)

Yeah, we model in our spare time. That’s Sara. The three of us are The Tripod of San Francisco. Don’t mess with the power of three.
Next up, a nerd’s delight at the CABLE CAR MUSEUM! This was awesome and FREE all the time. We learned about the history of the cable cars and saw the inner workings of the cars. Did you know that San Francisco is the last city in the world that maintains pulley cable cars? It was quite the trend for a while but over time they were eliminated from other cities.

That’s just a cool shot from the streets of China Town.
Another day, we ventured into Golden Gate Park which is this amazing, huge green space in the middle of the city and once inside you discover all of these amazing places to visit- the de Young museum, a botanical garden, a Japanese garden and a tropical garden. Again, we went on a free day and loved learning about the insides of this park. It’s like Disneyland for adults. Well, not really but it was cool.

Aztec art amongst many other awesome exhibits.

A botanical garden in the park. So many plants and trees that thrive in similar climates all over the world- South Africa, Chile, Mexico, etc.

Love = almost getting thrown into a pond and then reenacting scenes from Titanic.

This isn’t even altered for color. So beautiful. We essentially went into a green house of tropical flowers and the humidity was phenomenal. Sweating while peering at flowers is fun.

What a city….
