The Bravest Thing I’ve Ever Done…

Just a couple of weeks ago, Allistair and I did the bravest thing we’ve ever done- picked up and left Los Angeles with savings, personal belongings and a cat in tow. No job. No exact plan. No precise destination other than the apartment we had rented. The morning we left I was nervous, excited, scared and was leaving behind the city that had been home to me for the better part of thirty years.
We chose San Francisco- or rather, the city chose us- because we both had the desire to move here at different points in life, it is a walking city and it has many more of the jobs in Allistair’s field. So many things have happened over the last few months that have had us land here that we know this is our new city, our new home and our new adventure.

So far so great- a fun neighborhood in the heart of the city. San Francisco is just 7 miles by 7 miles and you can truly walk from one end to the other with ease. We’ve put our shoes to the test on the hills and explore at every chance. The food and drink are amazing and inexpensive compared to LA and the weather has been perfect- warm with a breeze to keep you cool as you climb the steep streets.

It was quite a bit of work (and money) to get set up in a new apartment but we are all unpacked and have even hung our pictures. The three of us have settled into our new apartment and have had a great time setting up our home. Knubs is quite comfortable and rules the house, as usual.

So, what’s next? Well, Allistair is in the third round of interviews with a company, I’m job hunting and getting ready to go to Chiropractic College in the near, near, future. Not a day goes by that we don’t comment on how small, intimate the city is with so many different neighborhoods. We have taken a leap of faith with calculated risks and are embracing fully the experience.
Who would have thought that this is where our lives would lead us when we met 79 weeks ago. Just goes to show that all the plans, rules, and structure can fly out the window with a few quick spins of the universe and some trust in the unknown. This process has shown us with even greater clarity that we are friends, partners and best friends who really work as a team. The last few months have been some of the most difficult and tumultuous either of us have ever experienced and gratefully, we are still in tact and happier day by day that we chose to be brave.
